Pharmacology

Cassia angustifolia (Senna)

C. angustifolia is mainly used as a blood purifier, laxative for relieving constipation and to treat skin diseases. It contains a powerful natural laxative called anthraquinone and is approved by the world health organization (WHO). It is an FDA approved nonprescription laxative. Senna contains many chemicals called sennosides. Sennosides irritate the lining of the bowel, which causes a laxative effect.
